With nearly 20 years commercial and operational experience in the construction and facilities management industries across various sectors, including primary and secondary education, Sharon has led a number of teams to achieve exceptional results. She is a strong leader and performer with proven experience of taking business ideas from conception to implementation. Sharon is keen to improve society for all through diversity and inclusion initiatives, and mentoring those starting out. Winner of the We Are The City Rising Star in Construction award, Northern Power Women Top 50 Future Leader list and OUTstanding/ FT – Top 50 Future Leader list.

Experience

Sharon has previously worked for top tier main contractors, including Bovis Lend Lease, Laing O’Rourke and Carillion, as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. She is now Director of her own business, Constructing Rainbows Limited, which draws together her commercial and business skillset with her drive for inclusive workplaces for all. She has co-founded a social enterprise, STEER, which provides a link between education and industry for built environment students, through a mentoring scheme. Sharon also founded the Carillion LGBT network and the Facilities Management LGBT Network of Networks promoting collaboration between industry competitors. She is also a member of the RICS Women of the Future Network, the Construction Industry Council Diversity & Inclusion Panel, and the Leeds Beckett University Centre for LBGTQ+ Inclusion in Education.
