Suitability Statement

Teacher for 33 years. A head teacher in North Yorkshire from 1990-2009.   Taking a secondary school from 23% 5A*-C to 66% and the roll from 470 to 720.

Regionally the ASCL representative for the North Yorkshire branch 1994-2017.  Previously have been a consultant with CEA on threshold assessment and head teacher appraisals.

Chair of Trustees of Christian Education (2010-2019) a charity supporting effective RE in schools. Principal Examiner for GCSE Religious Studies for the AQA.

Formerly Chair of the North Yorkshire Schools’ Forum and a member of the Board of the North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership.

Governor of Selby College for 21 years until 2019.

Sometime Vicar of Riccall, Barlby and Hemingbrough within the Selby District.

Currently supporting a secondary headteacher as a mentor and training of supply staff in effective classroom practice and safeguarding in schools.

Working on a PhD with Warwick University.

Experience

Led a secondary school from a very weak position to good with outstanding features in OFSTED terms.

As the ASCL representative support Head-teachers through the process of becoming academies, funding agreement to TUPE and have developed a commitment to school improvement.
