Suitability Statement

I have worked in the public sector as a Police Officer with the North Yorkshire Police specialist Road Policing Unit for 27 years. Prior to this I served with the Royal Navy being fortunate to travel the world extensively and experience a broad range of educational, humanitarian and active service roles.

I have been a local secondary school governor since 2003, holding the position of chair to the board for 17 years. During this time, I completed the National Development for Chairs and Leadership course, endeavoured three Ofsted inspections and engaged governance in a broad range of enhanced developmental programmes.

In 2012 I graduated from Huddersfield University with a degree in teaching and Professional Development supporting this with a teaching Certificate in Education.

As a lecturer at Selby college, I enhanced the Public and Uniformed Services curriculum and was instrumental in the development and induction of the Criminology and Social Justice degree.

For the past three years I have worked in the private sector Compliance and Professional Standards implementing the Money Laundering Act. Although there is a development to implement sanctions, I created a strategic programme for enhancement and education.

I am passionate about the teaching, learning and welfare of our students and educational community. I hope my combined life experiences and academic knowledge combine with an enthusiastic integrated approach will help drive and support the future development of our young people and wider communities.
