Melanie’s a passion for education which is apparent in her mission to ensure that all children receive high quality teaching and learning and are educated in a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment.
Her strong focus on school improvement and her relentless drive has ensured that children within her schools have the best opportunities in the classroom. Bringing with her this wide range of experience in primary education, she is delighted to be able to help and support the development of Selby Educational Trust
Experience
Melanie has an extensive teaching career within primary education of almost twenty five years , with ten of these years being within school leadership.
She has worked in schools in East and North Yorkshire after starting her career, in a school in Richmond upon Thames. Her first headteacher position was in 2012 of a small rural primary school in East Yorkshire, from which she moved to her current school, South Milford Primary School, in September 2015.
After successful years in school leadership, Melanie now supports the development of other schools within her Multi- Academy Trust and sits on the Strategic Heads group. Melanie wholeheartedly believes in using research to inform practice in schools, she has worked with others schools to develop her team’s knowledge of metacognition and the Thrive approach.
She is passionate that future generations of teachers have access to high quality training and receive the support required to grow and develop their practice; hence she has played a key role in the development of the Trust’s initial teacher training package.
