Suitability Statement

Has a wide range of property and management skills gained over a long property career with a full understanding of the operations of central and local government and with 6 years specifically related to the modernisation of the further education sector.

A requirement of excellent communication skills in engaging with consultants and senior management to assess and determine requests for capital grant support or consent for projects ranging from £1.5m to £87m and guide through the complete development process from inception to completion. Previous property experience has included asset management, commercial and housing management, asset disposal/acquisition and best value reviews.

My work within the Skills Funding Agency gave me a strong desire to continue to support the education sector particularly in fit for purpose and value for money facilities.

Key Skills Include:

  • Leading and developing teams in the private sector, local authority, Government Agency and the Civil Service.
  • Assisted in mitigating risks on major development projects by ensuring client capability and sound project management principles and has the maturity and confidence to influence and negotiate where necessary.
  • Leadership qualities through serving as an officer commanding in the Territorial Army.

Experience

Advised senior Directors, Councillors, Board members on property related issues and policy as a senior property professional.

Assessed, challenged, reviewed and as appropriate made recommendations for approval on applications from colleges, National Skills Academies and other training providers for capital related projects.

Led the review of guidance for implementing policy and the process for capital related matters in the Agency.
